Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure, using a chemical solution to remove layers of skin, revealing the more youthful skin underneath.

Chemical peels can reduce or improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scars, uneven skin tone and other skin imperfections in a way that regular facial services do not.

After treatment, the skin layers eventually peel off revealing more youthful skin. The new skin is usually smoother with fewer lines and wrinkles, has a more even color and is brighter in complexion.

Will my skin peel afterwards?

Visible skin exfoliation “peeling” may or may not happen.

If you have a light peel, you’re less likely to notice visible peeling, since only the top layer of skin is affected. Deeper peels are more likely to show flaking and peeling in the week after your chemical peel.

Chemical Peels are designed to work at a cellular level in the skin and target various skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes, rough texture, dullness, and an uneven skin tone. So, whether you peel or not, the peels are doing their work.

Is there any pain involved?

During a peel, you will feel a slight tingle as the peel is doing its work. For deeper peels, there will be a burning sensation when the peel is first applied.

if you have a low tolerance to discomfort, I recommend applying a lidocaine cream prior to your service. A fan will also be offered if you want to keep your face cool during the treatment.

What is the downtime?

You may experience redness, flaking and peeling skin for up to a week after the peels depending on the depth of the peel. Deeper chemical peel treatments can cause your skin to appear sunburned, tanned, tight, tender, and temporarily dry for up to a week.

During this period, it is recommended that you avoid the sun, wear sunscreen of at least 30 SPF and a hat.

What results can I expect?

Many clients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one service.

I recommend a peel treatment once per month to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, congested skin and uneven skin tone. A series of peels is the best way to ensure results.
